Food Porn: With Eyes To Satisfy And Stomach To Churn

I’ve been meaning to create an Art Appreciation featuring food photography since 2015 “2015?! Gosh darn, Kate” “Shut up. It’s been 2016 for a week, dammit.” But let’s face it, I don’t have a keen eye on traditional medium of art much less freaking photography.

I kept debating with myself, asking, “Well, what are you gonna say? Some stuff about masterpiece and piece of art and world peace?!” That part of my brain won at that moment. I have no clue what photography is all about. How does someone look at an image and say, “Oh, that’s a splendid work.” Maybe to others, they could. But in my case, so long as it’s not blurry and in weird angle, it’s good.

The power of Pinterest have given me the ability to see photos that bring myself thoughts like, “I have to buy a microwave oven,” and “I have to learn how to fry a damn chicken,” and “Oh my god, I’m starving”.

My two special (and by special, I mean, not frying eggs until it gets brown or cooking instant noodles) cooking events were dropping sliced ham squares onto a frying pan with hot cooking oil like a bomb while shrieking (I was 9, okay?) and melting chocolate bars to pair with a fried donut my aunt experimented.

So yeah. I’m not a good cook.

That’s why I appreciate good cooking when I taste and see one. I make up by being the best eater ever. And I can appreciate a good presentation of food as the next person. It takes effort to not just throw in your delicious meal into a bowl and dig in. Presentation and documenting it, that’s art.

So I’m not going to feature just one person here. Like they haven’t guessed that with your title already. Here are some of my favorite food photography/food porn pictures in the Web. You can check out the recipes for those delectable goodies, too! (if you’re one of the blessed ones who could cook)

Come, and suffer with me!

I love this dessert so much! I first tasted it around 4 years ago when my classmate brought some to class and the moment it got sliced between my teeth, it immediately climbed up to my Top 5 most favorite dessert. The powdered sugar, the crispy goodness of the…thingies that’s like a bun (what’s that called?) make a delicious combination with the creamy and tangy filling in between.

Excuse me while I melt in food porn overload.

So. Was that your stomach I heard grumbling like a tank? 😉 Believe me, it’s not mine. I’ve got mine soundproofed because it’s been disturbing the neighbors while I was making this post.

Note: I do not own any of the images shown above. Everything is rightfully owned by the photographer/web owner. Support them! 😀

Art Appreciation is about appreciating art in its many many forms. This is a tag line constituting 55% art and 45% nonsense art-related musings. I’m working on that. For more information, click here.
